Operation Turkey
Mountain View is collecting canned goods and boxed items for Operation Turkey beginning on Friday, Oct 31 and going through through Thursday, Nov 13th. Last year, we collected over 2,800 canned goods for families in need in our area and we hope to do it again this year! The class in each grade level that bring in the most will win extra recess and the class bringing in the most in the whole school will earn a pizza party. If you prefer to write a check, $50 fills one thanksgiving basket and checks can be made payable to NVFS Operation Turkey. Thank you for your support.
MVES Fruit Sale!
Mountain View is taking orders for Naval oranges and Ruby Red grapefruit direct from Florida Indian River Citrus Groves! This fundraiser is sponsored by the STEAM Committee in partnership with the Gainesville RURITAN Club. All proceeds will support the MVES's MakerSpace initiative. New PWCS E-News Subscription Portal
The new PWCS E-News, an extension of Blackboard Connect, will email news, closing announcements, and alerts to parents and the community. This replaces the system currently used for E-News. Signing on to the new subscription portal will enable users to choose what types of messages are received and from which schools. Staff, students, parents, and the community can sign up now at: PWCS E-News.

Free and Reduced Lunch
Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications were mailed via email or US mail by the School Division to families with children registered in Prince William County Public Schools.  If you did not receive an application, please contact School Food and Nutrition Services at 703.791.7314 or your school.  You may also complete the application electronically.  Visit the School Division Web at www.pwcs.menus.schoolfusion.us/ to access the electronic application.
Study Island
Students have access to a great reading resource to learn throughout the year and prepare for the state standardized tests (SOL's).  The school purchased, web-based program called Study Island, is accessible to students from school or home. All students in grades 4 - 5 have a username and password which is given out by the classroom teacher. Click here for an overview of the program.

We are excited about the benefits this program can bring to our students, and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by using Study Island. Please feel free to contact Study Island at 800-419-3191 or
support@studyisland.com if you have any questions.
