Book Fair Volunteers Needed
The library is asking for your help. Please choose a time slot to help out with the annual book fair at Mountain View. We need people for set up (October 17th), to lead students around to fill out their wish lists (October 20th and 21st), for purchasing days (October 22nd-24th), for parent nights (October 22nd and 23rd) , and finally for packing up (October 24th). We do need several volunteers at each time slot. It is always a very exciting week for our students and families. Please consider helping out and click on the link below. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Crist at cristeb@pwcs.edu.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
The PTO sponsors several Teacher Appreciation Luncheons throughout the school year to show our appreciation & support to our fantastic teachers and staff. Our next luncheon is scheduled for Friday, October 17th. We could really use your help! Please sign up for an item using this link:     Luncheon Sign-up

MakerSpace Donations
Mountain View's MakerSpace will provide an avenue to integrate the Arts and 21st Century skills to create STEAM opportunities for students. To provide our students with various reusable, recycled, or new materials to invent, create, build, and program, we are reaching out to the school community. To view the list and sign-up - click here! Items can be sent in or dropped off at school during normal school hours. Thank you for your support!

Cafeteria News
Please click here for the monthly PWCS lunch menu.

The theme of the week of October 13-17 is "Get in the Game with School Lunch," which promotes the ability of school meals to build healthy bodies. During this week, we invite parents to join us for lunch and have the chance to enter a drawing for a free lunch for their visit. Each day this week, buy lunch and you may be one of two lucky winners to win the book, "Healthy Eating and Me".

On October 31, buy lunch and enter into a contest to guess the weight of the pumpkin. Three lucky winners who guess the closest weight will win a game, "Jack-o-Lantern Bean Toss." to share with their class.

New PWCS E-News Subscription Portal
The new PWCS E-News, an extension of Blackboard Connect, will email news, closing announcements, and alerts to parents and the community. This replaces the system currently used for E-News. Signing on to the new subscription portal will enable users to choose what types of messages are received and from which schools. Staff, students, parents, and the community can sign up now at: PWCS E-News.

Free and Reduced Lunch
Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications were mailed via email or US mail by the School Division to families with children registered in Prince William County Public Schools.  If you did not receive an application, please contact School Food and Nutrition Services at 703.791.7314 or your school.  You may also complete the application electronically.  Visit the School Division Web at www.pwcs.menus.schoolfusion.us/ to access the electronic application.
Study Island
Students have access to a great reading resource to learn throughout the year and prepare for the state standardized tests (SOL's).  The school purchased, web-based program called Study Island, is accessible to students from school or home. All students in grades 4 - 5 have a username and password which is given out by the classroom teacher. Click here for an overview of the program.

We are excited about the benefits this program can bring to our students, and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by using Study Island. Please feel free to contact Study Island at 800-419-3191 or
support@studyisland.com if you have any questions.
