The 6th Annual MVES "Race for Education" is now upon us and April 25-29 is RACE WEEK!  Help us gear up for this great event by participating in each day's theme!
Wednesday April 27-NO THEME - Class Picture Day
Thursday, April 28 - Crazy Hair Day
Friday, April 29 - Wear your Pajamas


 
Volunteers Needed for Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
Our last teacher appreciation luncheon of the year is Friday May 6th.  We need your help to make it successful.  Please volunteer a dish or your time to help make our last luncheon the best one yet! Thanks in advance for your support!  
 
 
Box Tops for Education
***Box Tops Contest*** During the months of April and May the top three students who turn in the most Box Tops will win a Milkberry Frozen Yogurt gift card ~ 1st place - $15, 2nd place - $10 and 3rd place $5.  Simply tape/glue Box Tops onto the collection sheet (click here to download) or place in a Ziploc bag/envelope - don't forget to check those expiration dates!  Please label your submission with your student’s name and teacher's name and turn in by May 31st.  Winners will be announced June 3rd.  Please contact Carolyn Fiorenza, Box Top Coordinator, with any questions or for additional program information.  Thank you for your support!

MVES 6th Annual 5K Race and Mile Fun Run
Mountain View 6th Annual 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run:
MVES PTO is hosting the annual race and run at the Piedmont Athletic Club on April 30th at 8:00 AM.  Make sure you register by April 8 to receive a race T-Shirt with your race registration.  After April 30th you can still register, but will not receive a Race T-Shirt.  Additionaly, race particpants will be able to buy Spring Festival Children Wristbands for only $5.00.

Deadline for ordering the MVES yearbook is May 13, 2016. Any book ordered after this date WILL NOT arrive to school in time for the end of the year, and shipping charges will be incurred. Prince William County Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for 2-5 graders for an AFTER SCHOOL EXPLORERS CLUB.  Please see attached for prices and information.  
Cougar Connections - MVES Morning Broadcast
Tune in every morning, after the tardy bell, for the Cougar Connections - Mountain View's live morning news broadcast! The broadcast is produced by 5th grade crew members who fill various positions, both in front of and behind the cameras. MakerSpace Donations
The MakerSpace is busy, busy, busy! Students are making and creating - a lot!!!! Donations of paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, duct tape, and various reusable, recycled, or new materials would be graciously accepted!  Do you have one small, sturdy, foldable table or one basic, portable sewing machine that is in need of a new home? Please consider supporting the MV Maker Movement!
Mountain View's MakerSpace provides an avenue to integrate the Arts and 21st Century skills to create STEAM opportunities for students. To view the list and sign-up - click here! Items can be sent in or dropped off at school during normal school hours.

Congratulations to the Staff and Students of Mountain View Elementary School for earning another year of School of Excellence!  This distinction is based on each school's performance for the 2014-2015 school year.  The finish line that marks success moves each year, ensuring that schools never rest with their last accomplishments.  Great job Mountain View Cougars!

Grades and Class Websites
Calling all parents! Keep on top of your child's grades and classroom information with Parent Portal and School Fusion! Click here for sign-up information. By signing up for a Parent Portal account, you will be able to view your child's test information, homework, grades, and attendance. You can also view and edit your contact information and update your password. Your Parent Portal user name and password will also be your login for your school website (School Fusion) to view your child's classroom activities and homework.

 
MVES Birthday Celebrations
We are supporting our wellness initiative here at Mountain View and will be celebrating birthdays every other Friday. Please see the attached letter for our birthday celebration dates.  


 
MYSCHOOLBUCKS
Parents now have the opportunity to set up lunch accounts for their children by accessing MySchoolBucks.com  In the past this has been called MyLunchMoney and is now under a new name.  All monies under the old name have been transferred to MySchoolBucks.  Parents also have the opportunity to pay by check or cash directly to the school if they wish.
